The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is a government-run national agency established in April 2005 with the mission of dispersing social subsidies on behalf of the Department of Social Development.

The South African Social Security Agency’s (SASSA) long-term goal is to establish itself as the industry standard bearer regarding the distribution of social security services. The purpose of the Agency is to carry out the objective of administering social security services to eligible children, older citizens, and people with disabilities in Africa.

The SASSA has announced the SASSA Grant Payment Schedule for August 2022

The month of August has here, and with it, another round of SASSA grant applications. SASSA has just announced its August 2022 award payment dates.

During the first week of every month, SASSA distributes fixed grants to qualified candidates. These monthly payments include grants for child support, disability, and old age.

The organization has released the SASSA grant payment dates. As of Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the older person’s grant will begin receiving payments.

Dates for Receiving SASSA Grant Payments in August 2022

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) will make grant payments on the following dates in August 2022:

Tuesday, August 2, 2022: Old Age Grants and anything related to these payments

Wednesday, August 3, 2022: Disability Grants and anything about these payments

Thursday, August 4, 2022: Foster Care Grants

Thursday, August 4, 2022: Care Dependency Grants

Thursday, August 4, 2022: Child Support Grants

How Much Is the Grant from the SASSA?

There is a distinct amount of money given to each of the groups mentioned above by the Social Security Administration.

What are they paid?

R480 for children under the age of 18

R1,980 for older adults under the age of 75

R2,000 for those over 75

R1,980 for those with disabilities

Who Is Eligible to Receive the Grant?

The first requirement is that applicants fall into one of the three categories described earlier: children, those with disabilities, or senior citizens.

If you are an adult, you can receive the grant if:

  • You are a parent, the primary caregiver, or a foster parent that the court appoints.
  • You are a citizen of South Africa or a permanent resident there.
  • If you are a single person, your annual income should not exceed R223 200. If you are married, the total amount of money you make each year should not be more than R446 400.

The child must be able to qualify for the grant when:

  • They are under the age of 18.
  • Not be looked after on an ongoing basis at an institution run by the state.
  • Have a significant handicap and need specialized care around the clock.
