Fidelity ADT, a leading security services company, has partnered with Vumacam to introduce their groundbreaking R60 million ‘SafeCity’ initiative across the city. This latest project involves the installation of 1,850 newly activated security cameras – designed to provide optimum surveillance coverage. Boasting some of the industry’s most advanced features, these cameras can perform facial recognition technology. They possess an impressive night vision range for maximum visibility, even in low-light conditions.

The Fidelity Services Group recently announced that they installed 350 security cameras in previously unprotected areas of the city. This initiative is part of their ongoing commitment to improving public safety in the area. With the addition of these security cameras, there will now be a total of nearly 2,000 cameras protecting various sections of the city.

Fidelity ADT and other providers partnering with Vumacam will gain access to the company’s expansive network of more than 7,000 cameras. Fidelity has identified this as a critical step in understanding criminal patterns and providing crime prevention and investigative assistance.

Wahl Bartmann, CEO of Fidelity Group, spoke on the significance of this access in crime prevention efforts and the ability to monitor a greater area than ever before. He also mentioned the complexity many surveillance systems now feature due to advances in artificial intelligence technology.

The partnership between Fidelity ADT and Vumacam allows these providers to gain unprecedented city-wide awareness through their expansive camera network. It also gives them access to AI-driven technology that is continually updated as developments arise.

The installation of CCTV surveillance in Johannesburg has the potential to revolutionize the way crime is monitored and prevented. With advanced camera systems, the authorities can keep an eye on public spaces 24/7 and detect any suspicious activity immediately. This will be expected to significantly reduce criminal activities such as theft and vandalism, allowing residents to feel safer in their neighborhoods.

Moreover, these camera setups are also expected to protect strategic public infrastructure from criminal activities, including cellular towers, traffic lights, and other critical facilities. This will enable Joburgers to go about their everyday lives without being interrupted or put at risk by criminal activities.

The city’s authorities have also set up a Telegram app group dedicated solely to providing updates on crime reports in any given area. This way, everyone can stay informed of any suspicious activity nearby and take measures to ensure their safety. The app also provides users with information about local security forces – such as police stations or private security firms – so they can get help quickly when required.

These advances demonstrate how serious the city is about protecting its citizens from crime-related threats. By investing money into advanced technology that monitors public areas around the clock and keeping residents updated through an easy-to-use platform, authorities are taking proactive steps toward creating a safe environment for all in Johannesburg.

Fidelity Services Group is urgently calling on all communities in Johannesburg to collaborate and work together to tackle the rising security problems within the city. The numbers speak for themselves: during the first two weeks of 2023, there has been a shocking 40% increase in burglaries reported when compared to the same period from last year. This trend is worrying and could signal even worse security issues if steps are not taken to address it.

Security experts have identified load shedding as one of the leading causes of the spike in burglaries. Due to prolonged power outages, criminals have been emboldened and feel confident about committing these crimes without much fear of being caught by authorities. To make matters worse, this has also led to increased crime syndicates operating within Johannesburg; they have become more sophisticated with their operations due to a lack of law enforcement resources.

To help combat these escalating security issues, Fidelity Services Group is asking people within local communities to come together and be proactive about their safety. There are many ways that citizens can take ownership of their security, such as installing alarm systems and CCTV cameras or even engaging in neighborhood watch initiatives. Doing so will provide better protection against burglars and send a strong message that criminal activities won’t be tolerated by any means necessary.
